Baby Class and Day Care Updates

Brown, yellow, and green are good.  Red, black and light tan are bad...when it comes to the color of baby poop.

Travis and I attended our first baby classes recently and learned this little tidbit from a pediatrician who came in as a guest speaker. Travis is going to be in charge of this part of raising our little potsticker.  Sounds like a good job for a dad if you ask me.

Don't worry.  This was not the only valuable thing we learned  in class. We learned a lot about "tummy time" and will do our best to make sure our baby doesn't get a flat head.  We always thought it sounded like putting the baby on the floor for a few minutes on their stomach.  The physical therapist and speech therapist who came in certainly showed us how important it is for kids to get off their backs as much as possible during the day.

We were able to tour the birthing center at St Francis Hospital in Shakopee.  The rooms are huge and very nice. It made things just a little bit more real to go on the tour.  Only 9 weeks or so left to go!

We feel very confident that we have a great facility to welcome our baby into the world. After some tours of day care centers, we also have a great facility to take care of potsticker while we are at work.   We have decided to go with Next Steps Learning Center in Chaska.

I have a good friend who sends her son to this center and that's how we first learned about it.  The owner and director, Nicole, is young, energetic and hard-working.  She mentioned how she is constantly working on improving the center and that really struck a cord with us.  We can tell she will not settle with being mediocre.

There are just so many things we liked about the center. They divide the infants into two rooms based on ages.  There is such a big diffence between a 12 week old (potsticker's age when he/she starts) and a 16 month old. It just makes sense to us to keep them separated.  Additionally, the construction project that they are currently working on will add some nice features like a media center and a mulit-purpose room (an indoor play area for rainy/snowy/hot days).  Furthermore, the price is right! We feel blessed to have such a great center at such a reasonable price.  We think potsticker is going to love it.  click for photos
